Risky Run

Our school prepared themselves in bunches for the Risky Race, as if bundles of cards lying helpless around on the grassy field. As soon as they heard the buzzing whistle, they whizzed past and ran and ran and ran until they reached the end, the finish line. Red, exhausted faces crying out for water. A teacher, Miss Jenkins, lended me a camera to snap some nice photos to put on my class blog of the runners! So, after all those tiring races, each House team, Bradman, my team ( Blue), Newcombe, ( Red), Frazer, (Green) and Freeman (yellow)! Each team yelled their cry, a little type of song they shout out at the top of their lungs, not sing. Whatever team cries out the loudest is the winner. Frazer won as usual, their yells ear throbbing!! But still, Bradman came 2nd!! Yay! Here was our war cry:Team Captain: Everywhere we go (repeated by the team)Team Captain: People wanna’ know (repeated by the team)Team Captain: Who we are, (repeated by the team) Team Captain: And where we come from, (repeated by the team) Team Captain: So we tell them, (repeated by the team) Team Captain: We’re the mighty Mighty Bradmans! (Repeated by the team) 1,2, 1, 2,3, 1,2 ,3,4, BRADMAN!!!!!!!! (together)Now, I didn’t run for a reason. I was afraid for myself, after the devastating state I was in after the race last year, 2007. I shall recount the events for you:My heart was pounding in its chest, begging me to stop running, but I didn’t give up. I went on, to make my school proud! But after the shocking and heart-breaking result of coming 36th in the race, I was upset and disappointed. I’d trained hard for days, but I had not made it to the next running level in the Cross Country. But no, that was not what let me drift along with my hope and not participate in the next one for this year, it was that I didn’t want to hurt myself again, I didn’t want to go through the pain that haunted me as I persistently ran and ran and ran for the whole 3 km. After my result, I felt still proud of coming 36th, after all I wasn’t last and anyway none of my other Team mates representing our school make it either. But still, I was very proud of my achievement. Never happier I felt. But what I had gone though was enough to show me the danger that’d conquer me if I’d ever do it again. I didn’t participate in the painful Cross country this year so I could protect myself, from ever having to go to hospital. I have Asthma, and the doctor has warned me not to do it again, after what happened. This time, I am shielding my health and closing out the pain, just to protect my self, after all health is more important than a race right??This is what happened, the most UPSETTING thing, this is what I did when I felt pain rushing through me: Teachers guided me along, but I screamed out to them, so that I could stop. I felt like dying! But the teachers selfishly ignored my wails and went on. “Please, please, just please, let me stop! Is it finished? Please GIVE me my puffer, I can’t breathe PLEASE!!!!!” Even writing these words strikes my heart with an awful feeling of disappointment that I ever led myself to this state. Never, will I do that again, unless necessary. I know what is best for me, so I am joyful that I made the right decision.

What a day, I have to say!!!

    Hey Nadine!
Thanks for your comments, they have been really nice! Im sure once the school year is over i’ll still have this blog, but im not completely sure with what my teacher is doing with them all once we leave Middle school. I would love to keep it so we can stay in touch! If not then I will just have to make another blog with everything i did this year on it! I’ll be pretty bored during the summer, Ill do like a post a day!
Anyways, great post. That must have been so scary when your couldn’t breathe. My sister has Asthma and hasn’t had an attack for a few years but when I was little i remember watching my sister have an attack and II was so helpless…well i was only 4! But she’s been pretty good.

    Hi Nadine,
I think your idea of putting up riddles was an amazing idea :-)
I’ve given you a clue on my blog, for the riddle.
I really like the ajectives you’ve used and that was a great recount, like Mrs P says “Don’t just write a boring old recount”.
I think you should use paragraphs but either than that your post is great!

Good idea to tell us to click on the photos! They are so blurry aren’t they!

I know that it is so hard to breathe and your throat feels like it is bleeding. At the end it is especially hard to sprint and win, when you’ve used all your energy running the race. It is a really hard race but I know how much you don’t want to do it because of the pain :-(

I do agree, health is way more important than a race. Your comment was so sweet! I will definably keep on blogging when I get to HighSchool even if this one gets deleted by my teacher, I will create a new one with all my old posts from this one and we can stay in touch! At least until you have to stop…but hey! Thats a long way away.

    Hey my friends! :)
    @ Anand
Bradman is a cricketer, i have heard. And thanks! Health does come first, most important!
    @ Smart
I wouldn’t want any thing to come between us, i hope we could be friends until i have to go, which is sad. I feel sorry for your sister, you can’t do anything anyway, but you are still freaked out. Scary huh? I know, if you are young, then it is okay. Once, i watched my sister Norma crawl out of the window of the falt where my dad JUST saved her life!!
    @ Naomi
Awwwww thanks! I know, at least i didn’t write anything boring!! And also, i must quit the riddle thing, too much people are using them and it is becoming quite boring!!! It is painful in the race, VERY. Makes me stop breathing.
    @ Smart again
Thanks once again, hope we can keep visiting! :P

Hi Nadine! Norma has told em agreat name for our team “SWN”(stop whaling now). Do you agree with it? I think it’s the perfect name. Do you know how to make a blog like yours? If you know, send me the instructions, or try to do it. So, we’ll do our project sooner.
    Thanks!

Hi Nadine! I’ve made the wiki only to organize all this easier. Please, make a blog like yours! Ask how to do a communitary blog, because there’s a service where you make the blog and then you send invitations to the people who want to participate.
    Bye!
